Great Horned Owl released by DaLyn Erickson, WRCNU’s Executive Director and Wildlife Specialist.
This owl was hit by a truck in January and suffered a tail separation rendering him unable to maneuver for flight. On April 18, 2010, after three months of treatment & rest he was once again released back into the backyards of some very happy Hooper residents/rescuers. He has been a favored “resident,” along with his mate, over the past couple of years and they were happy to have him back. As the owl swooped up and perched on a familiar branch overlooking a large pasture, many birds who had settled in for the night took flight to safer territory. In the end, a happy day for both owl and residents alike.
